James Stancle (Jim) Walker

James Stancle (Jim) Walker, age 78 of Lampasas died Thursday January 19, 2012 at Regal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Jim was born July 24, 1933 in Coleman County, Texas the son of J.T. (Pete) Walker and Ioma (Ensor) Walker. He was a resident of Lampasas most of his life. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955. He worked for C.P. Cloud and Son, Lampasas Auction, Wieser Mill, Evergreen Mills, Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Texas Best Panels. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas for over 65 years, Jaycees and PRCA. Jim was a big fan of rodeo and participated in events himself. He also was involved in ranching and loved livestock. He was a true cowboy. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elva Walker of Lampasas; two daughters, Cathy Walker and Kimmie DuBose and husband, Marvin all of Lampasas; grandchildren, Brooke DuBose of Temple; Brode DuBose of Lampasas; Lacy Avant and husband, Stacey of Shreveport, LA; great-granddaughter, Noelle Starr Million of Shreveport; brother, Dale Walker of Burleson, TX; niece, Wendi Schmidt and husband, Mark and their son, Mason Walker Schmidt of Ft. Worth.Funeral service was held Saturday, January 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Lampasas. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas. Visitation was Friday January 20, 2012, at Sneed Funeral Chapel.Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund in Lampasas, 402 S. Key Ave. Lampasas, TX 76550.Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
