Congratulation goes out to John Brooks and sister Catherine Hicks. John showed the champion Yorkshire gilt award, the reserve champion cross breed barrow and was named the senior market showmanship. He also exhibited overall a reserve champion market hog, which also took the crossbreed reserve champion breed barrow, the reserve champion for cross breed and champion for all show, reserve champion for cross bred gilt. Catherine Hicks won the peewee hog showmanship. Way to go kids! John showed a total of five hogs in the Lampasas show. Jimmy and Mary Hick are the proud parents.When Jerome and Shirley Meischen went to San Diego, California on December 27, to watch what they thought would be the last time they would have to watch their grandson Blake Gideon play football they were in for a surprise. When they got there, they learned that Blake had been selected to play in the East-West Shrine game in St. Petersburg, Florida Saturday, January 21 at 3:00 p.m. on NFL station. Blake was also picked to design the bowl game ring for UT. While in California they alsovisited with their grand daughter Quincee and her husband Jason Catron who live in Pasadena.Raymond Hicks reported that his granddaughter Laura Beth Hicks spent a week with her dad Bobby and his wife Debbie while she was recovering from having her tonsils removed. He reported that she is still speaking in a soft voice and is well on the road to recovery.Received a report from the Clark family goings on. Jane has improved enough Saturday to enjoy the family Christmas that had to be postponed because of her surgery. Family members that attended were Bobby and Kit Clark of Round Rock, her sons Zack Wooten and his children Misty, Aubrie, Autumn Rose and Kade who turned 1 and had his birthday Saturday, Clinton and Rachel Wooten and their children Lane and Colten from Hutto, Doug, Kristi and children Jordan and Jaylee Messer of Lampasas, Jamie and sons A. J. and Andrew Houdyshell, Boyd and sons Eli and Silas of Lubbock, Jean Poor and son Nathan of Arlington, Danny Clark wasn’t able to attend because of illness.Sunday a birthday celebration was held for grand daughter Jaylee who just turned 5. LaNell Daniels and Tommye Cobern came over Sunday afternoon and played cards. Jesse Clark of New Mexico was in visiting this past week. It was good to hear Jane is getting back into the swing of things.The Bend community meeting will be Saturday 21 at 6:00 p.m. The meal will be chili and stew and of course desserts. You are asked to bring your favorite chili or stew and/or dessert. Entertainment will be provided by the Pausewang family of Goldthwaite.
