Thursday, January 19, 2012 • Posted January 19, 2012

The Lady Dillos picked up two big district wins this past week. First up, the Lady Dillos traveled to Hamilton on Tuesday to face the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Dillos started off well and held a 9-5 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. However, Hamilton would take a four point lead into halftime and would keep the lead for the majority of the game. With determination and persistence, the Lady Dillos fought back and tied the game with 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter. The game then went into overtime and the Lady Dillos pulled away from the Lady Bulldogs for an exciting 45-41 win. I was extremely proud of our girls and the way we overcame adversity. We were behind for most of the game and had some foul trouble we had to play though, but the girls stayed positive and found a way to win. I thought this game showed a lot of growth on our part because there were a lot of things that did not go our way early on. Instead of getting frustrated and letting it affect us, we stayed mentally strong and it paid off in the end. Scoring for the Lady Dillos were: A Maxcey, 2; Saldivar, 6; M. Maxcey, 14; Pulatie, 12; Ross, 1; Turner, 8; and Bauerschlag, 2.The Lady Dillos then hosted the Coleman Lady Bluecats on Friday. The Lady Dillos took the lead fromt he start and never looked back. Through teamwork, offensive execution, and a great defensive effort the Lady Dillos defeated the Lady Bluecats, 55-30. I felt like we played with a lot of intensity and passion from beginning to end. Our defensive pressure gave Coleman a lot of trouble and created numerous scoring opportunities for us. This was a great team win because every player inpacted the game in one way or another. Scoring for the Lady Dillos were: A. Maxcey, 3; Saldivar, 1; M. Maxcey, 13; Pulatie, 11; Ross, 2; Turner, 6; Bauerschlag, 14; and Haverland, 5.The Lady Dillos will host Hico on January 17th and then travel to Comanche on Friday, January 20th. Please come out and show your support for these young ladies! Go Lady Dillos!!
