Food entries at Youth Fair
Thursday, January 19, 2012 • Posted January 19, 2012

Participants entering the Food Division have an opportunity to make a little money at this year’s Youth Fair. They can sell their entries. First, second and third places can be sold at a minimum of $10.00. Fourth, Fifth and participant entries can be sold at a minimum of $5.00. Purchasers can exceed the minimum price if they so desire. The food entries can be taken whenever they are purchased on Friday or Saturday. The Food Category is just one of the six Youth Fair categories. It is divided up into 9 sub categories. They are: Cakes, Cookies, Brownies/Bar, Cookies, Candy, Dried Foods, Quick Breads, Yeast Breads, and Mixes. The Cakes are divided further into Iced Cakes, Non-Iced, Cupcakes and Decorated Cakes (wedding or birthday party cakes). No food needing refrigeration will be accepted. All food items need to be covered with plastic wrap and the recipe taped to the top of the container with the participant’s name on the back of recipe card. Further questions can be answered by calling the San Saba County Extension Office at 372-5416. A copy of the 2012 Youth Fair rules can be found at http://sansaba.agrilife.org.
