Peters achieves Eagle Scout Rank
Thursday, July 17, 2008 • Posted July 17, 2008

Recently, Tommye & Rufus Cobern of Bend attended the Eagle Scout Ceremony of their grandson, Garrett Reid Peters in Duncanville, Texas. It was a beautiful ceremony with well over 50 people attending, including family, friends, and other scout members.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. To earn the honor, Scouts must complete a community service project and other requirements. Garrett’s Eagle Service Project involved designing and leading a group of scouts to build “The Imagination Station”, a children’s play structure at the Duncanville Church of Christ’s Camp El Bosque in Duncanville. It is called the Imagination Station because of its creative shape and unique steering wheel which could be a ship, 18-wheeler, fire truck, car, airplane, submarine, etc. His board of review was held January 11. However, his Eagle Scout Ceremony was held May 3.

Garrett, 16, is a member of Troop 493. Garrett will be an upcoming junior at Duncanville High School this fall and he is the son of David and Vicki Peters of Duncanville.
