Descendants of W.W. Millican hold annual family reunion
Thursday, July 17, 2008 • Posted July 17, 2008

On Friday, July 4th, at 10 a.m., some 44 descendants of Mose, Miles, and Bobbie Millican, all children of W.W. and Mary Francis Brazil Millican, met for food, fun, and fellowship at the Civic Center in San Saba. Enjoying a respite from the intense heat and drought conditions, the families shared pictures and stories for several hours. Attendees ranged in age from 95 (Thelma Millican) and 94 (Elsie Millican) to the youngest, 15-month-old Gracen Shahan.

Miles Millican's family was well-represented by several members of the Julian Millican family. Ruth Millican and her sons, Scott (Pam) Millican and Ron (Vickie) Millican, along with her daughter, Marcy Millican Perkins, attended. Granddaughter, Hilary Millican (Scott and Pam's daughter) of Arlington, rounded out the family numbers. Marcy had made a family tree of the W.W. Millican family which stretched across one whole wall. Family members were invited to look at the tree and to fill in any new (or old)information. Once it is updated, Marcy will share it with everyone.

Kathe (Millican) and Ron Wells represented the Ivan (Pete) Millican family. Both Kathe and Marcy have done extensive genealogical research on the Millican family and had a great deal of information, as well as wonderful pictures to share.

Four of Mose Millican's sons and one of his daughters had children in attendance. Sherman Millican's family members present were: Gail M. Callahan, and Pat and Bonnie Millican.

North Millican was represented with his daughter, Helen North Tilton and her husband, John; and his son, John Millican and his wife, Joanne. The Tilton's daughter, Amy, also attended this event.

John Zack Millican Owen's daughters, Eleanor Johnson and Martha Burnham, were in attendance. Accompanying Eleanor were her husband, Jerry Johnson; and son, Brady, with his wife, Anna, and children: Mary, Kyle and Wilson.

Winston Millican's family showed up in good numbers. Elsie Millican and her children, some of her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came to the reunion. Elsie's family members included: son, Mike Millican, and wife, Charlotte, with daughter, Jill; and daughter, Kay Millican Thompson, and son, Kelly. Elsie's son, Bob Millican, and wife, Debbie, were also in attendance, and proudly showing off their children and grandchildren: Monica M. Shahan and her husband, Kevin, and their children - Risien, Madison and Gracen.

Poly Millican's widow, Thelma Millican, was pleased to have her daughter, Sylvia, in attendance, as well as one of her grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Sylvia M. and Forrest McGregor served as hosts for the gathering. Forrest did a good job, considering he was recovering from recent knee replacement surgery! Their son, Greg, his wife, Karen, and their son, Logan, were there as well.

Bobbie Millican Parks (sister to Miles and Mose) had her family represented by Caroline Parks, wife of Joe Parks.

Special friends came by to say "Hello," and to share time with the families. Scottie and Juanette Oliver popped in for a surprise visit with everyone.

The next reunion will be on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the Civic Center in San Saba. Everyone is encouraged to mark your calendars and make plans to attend.
