J. Pete Stewart, 79 years of age, died on July 11, 2008, in Llano, Texas, following a short illness. He was born to John H. and Myrtle Mae Brown Stewart. Pete was a native of Shawnee, OK.

Pete was married to Izora Poindexter on October 1, 1955. He attended the Tow Baptist Church. A member of the Scottish Rite, Pete was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Pete worked as a machinist with the Texas Highway Department for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Izora, of Tow; daughters: Shirley Mae Petty of Navarre, FL; Virginia Lee White of Heavener, OK; sisters: Alice Malero of Dallas, TX; and Pat Evans of Rockwall, TX; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
