Thursday, January 5, 2012 • Posted January 5, 2012

On November 5, 2011 in San Saba, TX, at Millican Pecan Co.’s factory, the annual Kids in the Kitchen event took place. This marked the beginning of the pecan harvesting season that lasts throughout the fall.A core value of Millican Pecan Co. is the emphasis on tradition and family. Through the involvement of the community, especially the future of the community – our kids, Millican Pecan Co. hopes to spread the love and hill country tradition of loving pecans and creation of its homemade baked goods. One of the main goals of the Kids in the Kitchen event is to “build into the next generation which is a passion of our family. We want to be able to use the resources we have been blessed with to enrich the lives of others”, says owners Winston and Kristen Millican, “to see the faces of these children light up when they see the final product that their [own] hands made is pure joy. We also love that our passion for baking is being passed on to others. Who knows, maybe when these kids are grown they will choose career paths that allow them to use the skills learned at Kids in the Kitchen!” Not only did this particular event involve the families in the community, it was a time to highlight Millican Pecan Company’s dedicated employees. Their particular joy came from becoming teachers for the day and sharing their personal knowledge of the baking business and passing on their pecan wisdom to others.Overall, Millican Pecan Co.’s Kids in the Kitchen 2011 was an overwhelming success! Joy, tradition, love and passion for the Texas pecan were experienced by many. If you didn’t get to experience this first hand, don’t feel left out; you too can share in all of this by personally partaking in all of Millican Pecan Co.’s baked good year round – delivered straight to your door!
