Did everyone get enough football over the holiday weekend? There were so many bowls that it was hard to remember which ones you were watching, think they must have a bowl for everything and everyone.Received some news from Hugo and Lesa Preece too late to make the paper concerning activities Christmas. Their son Clay Bradley from Mexia, Keith and Wanda Lemons of Brownwood, Sandra Miller DeBusk formerly from San Saba and now living in Comanche along with her daughter Kern DeBusk spent Christmas at the Bend with Lesa and Hugo. The day after Christmas they were honored with a visit from Brandon and Alisa Preece and the one and only granddaughter, Ava Laine Preece who were born the day after Thanksgiving. You can bet that Santa Clause didn’t forget to leave something for her under the tree.Jane Tinney reported that se and Tommie, Alton, Kim, rey and Trevor Tinney of San Saba, Jerry, Ann and Tommy Ryes of Richland, Gary, Melinda, Jacob and Shelby Freeland of Canyon, Mindy Nicholas, Brady and Erica Freeland of Grand Prairie all met in Brownwood to eat Mexican food for lunch. After lunch they all met at Alton’s house at Locker and opened Christmas gifts, then Gary and his family and Mindy and children came to Tommie and Jane’s to celebrate the New Year, but no one was able to stay up till midnight. Too many activities and too much good food will always make you sleepy.Charlene Brister reported on some of the goings on with her and Jackie. They were in Dublin Christmas Eve and spent the night and was there for Christmas. On December 27 their first great grand child was born in Austin. She is Layla Jewel Faul. The Brister home was full of visitors, eating, watching ball games, then a trip to Palacios to attend a friends wedding and from there to Rosenberg to celebrate Sammy Jo Vasek’s birthday. On their return trip home they stopped by the home of Emerson and Gladys Brister in Thrall. She also reported that the Barefoot Camp is now open. She and Jackie must have been wearing roller blades. Whew!Michael, Gennifer Brister & boys spent Christmas Eve in Dublin at home of Dr. Marilyn Brister & Carl Adams. Dr. Marilyn prepared her annual Mexican food which is always delicious. Gennifer supplied several pies/desserts.Gennifer reported that the boys are the perfect age to know what Christmas is all about and it made this year more exciting. They enjoyed being with their cousins Blain Adams and girlfriend Myriah, Elizabeth and her husband Joe Tamez, Jr.,Ryan Brister and his girlfriend Madaline, Lauren Brister and boyfriend Joe, also their aunt and uncle Gene and Janet Brister. “Big Jack” (Jackie) and Charlene was also there. They had a wonderful time and have so much to be thankful. Michael and Gennifer Brister had a house full over New Years eve. Her parent’s Tommy and Becky Grant, brother Guy and his wife Jennifer Grant, their son Tyler and his girlfriend from Salado celebrated both Christmas and New Years. They feasted on ham, chili, cabbage and black-eyed peas and of course all the trimmings. Needless to say Dillon and Dean had a ball all week long opening presents. Tyler was in charge of the big fireworks show which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and the weather was perfect.Lesa Preece reported that she spent New Years Eve with son Eric and Ashley Hernandez. Hugo went to Austin to his brother and sister-in-law Gaylon and Karen Preece. Sunday Hugo and Lesa spent the day with daughter Kristen in Killeen. Her room mate’s brother was assaulted on Christmas Day and spent several days in ICU at Scott &White in serious condition. He has been released from the hospital and will be recuperating at Kristen’s home.Happy birthday goes out to Chas Cobern, Charlene Brister, Phyliss Brookshire and Billy Bub McCoury whose birthday is January 6, to Annie White who will have a birthday January 7, to Bobbie Johnson and Jeffery Chalfant who will celebrate a birthday January 8, to Tanya Chalfant whose birthday is January 9, to Sandy Gary who will celebrate a birthday January 10, to Jaylee Messer, Curtis Lemons and Phillip Dowdy whose birthday is January 11.Congratulations go out to Robert and Spring Price who will celebrate an anniversary January 7.
