Law enforcement make four DWI arrests New Years Eve
Thursday, January 5, 2012 • Posted January 5, 2012

Law enforcement was out in full force for New Years hoping for the best but ready for the worst. There were no fatality or injury accidents due to alcohol over the holidays, but there were several arrests. On New Years Eve and during the early morning hours of the New Year, four individuals were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated in the City of San Saba. There were two other arrests that night as well; one for Public Intoxication and the other was for Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.Sheriff Brown stated that even with all the safe options out there, it is distressing that so many individuals are choosing to get behind the wheel after having numerous drinks, and then hitting our city streets and highways attempting to get home. Brown stated that the Blood Alcohol Concentrations gathered from the four DWI arrests ranged from 0.09 to 0.23. The Department of Public Safety Troopers, Owens, Tatum and Freeman each made an arrest for DWI and Deputy Sheriff Wilkerson made the other one. Sheriff Brown stated that it was good team work and that everyone worked together to make sure that our New Year started off without tragedy. Several other individuals were stopped for traffic violations and had been drinking but were checked and released since they were not intoxicated.Sheriff Brown also stated that "We will continue to vigorously protect our public roadways from those individuals who choose to endanger our families by drinking and driving. I believe that is what the majority of those who live in San Saba want and expect from both the Sheriff's Office and all Law Enforcement agencies charged with protecting this County.
