Elm Grove Echoes
Thursday, December 29, 2011 • Posted December 29, 2011

We have had both rain and snow in the forecast but have only received a few sprinkles. It has been cold and windy. We started our Christmas last Wednesday night at the home of Roger and Martha Tucker in San Angelo. We scaled down Christmas this year compared to the years in the past. We had a Chinese Christmas exchange with “white Elephant” presents. This was a lot of fun. Some of us got stuck with some pretty awful gifts. I don’t know what I will ever do with a head carved out of a cocoanut! Thursday morning Rex and Amy Tucker and family as well as Stacie, Santos, Sophia and Nonie Elizondo left for Ruidoso, New Mexico. They have had a lot of fun in the snow. We enjoyed a quiet Christmas Day with just Michael, Marilyn and Bethany Suber and myself. Bethany had to be back at work on Monday morning, so she left us Sunday night. Lanell and Ken Parson and family dropped in on us for a visit Friday. Alice Smith also came by for a visit last Friday and brought me a nice folder of the pictures she had taken at the gospel singing at Elm Grove. Thanks very much, Alice! We kick off another new year next week. The 42 tournament will be at Elm Grove on the 14th of January. The Busy Bee quilters will meet on the 10th. The Elm Grove community meeting will be January 21st. It is time to elect new officers, again. It is very important for our local folks to attend. It is getting increasingly difficult to come up with enough help to run the business of the community. Elm Grove has always been very active and we don’t want that to come to an end as so many other organizations have. Please make every effort to be there on the 21st.
