On December 8, 2011, the Pierian Study Club met at the home of hostess, Susie Nettleship. Co-hostesses for the meeting were members of the Entertainment Committee. Members included Jane Randolph, Donna Baker, Anna Wilson, Patty Shaw, Sharon Clawson, Debbie Shahan, Linda Sloan, and Loy Nell Behrens, committee chair.Mrs. Nettleship graciously welcomed members and guests to her home as co-hostesses served a variety of holiday culinary delights in the formal dining area of the home. The holiday buffet included skewers of fruit, Lady Finger and cucumber sandwiches, sand and lemon tarts, olive cheese puffs, truffles, pralines, and assorted candied pecans. Wassail punch, coffee and iced water were also served. The centerpieces throughout the home, composed of assorted roses, snap dragons and lilies, reflected the seasonal colors of red and white. A formal Christmas tree of gold and bronze graced the living room while an eclectic tree of traditional red and green was the focal point of the home’s great room.As guests and members mingled and visited within an atmosphere of holiday warmth, a kinship and celebration of the “true meaning” of Christmas could be felt. As stated in the club collect “…Let us take time for all things…that in the big things of life we are at one…and may we strive to touch and to know the great, common heart of us all.” Best wishes for a happy holiday and a prosperous new year to all.The next meeting of the Pierian Study Club will be January 12th in the home of Connie Adams beginning at 3:00 p.m. Co-hostesses for the January meeting will be Geanne Taylor, Martha Leigh Whitten, Martine Miller, and Bebe Bagley, chair.
