James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Do you like to get presents? There is real excitement, anticipation, joy. You grab the package, pull the ribbon off, rip the paper and open the box. WOW! But opening always ends. We get to the bottom of the pile. It’s over. But what if there were a box that never got empty? We unwrapped, found one gift, turned it over, and found another and then another. It sounds like a fantasy, but actually God has given us that kind of gift. The gift God gives is the gift of life. Our life is “in the image of God” to be lived in God’s world. Jesus came to give “live abundantly.” God’s gift of life is here. Let’s open it with joy and thanksgiving.
