A big week for Eventide Nursing Home
Thursday, December 15, 2011 • Posted December 15, 2011

We were blessed this past week with 20 new residents from our SISTER home in Rising Star whose nursing home caught on fire over the weekend. They all arrived SAFE and SOUND, and although it was a traumatic situation and sudden transition, with all of our Christmas events, they were able to settle right in during an exciting time!Tuesday was our Employee Party, where everyone enjoyed a SCRUMPTIOUS meal at Bar D Brew house. We awarded many door prizes, played games, revealed Secret Santas, exchanged gifts, and our annual Christmas Door Decorating Prize winners were announced: Rena Cummings-1st place $100; T.J. Vines-2nd place $75; Sybil Preciado-3rd place $50; Estella Chavarria-Honorable Mention, Photo Frame. It meant so much to our residents as several groups from our schools system were generous enough to lend a helping hand, Student Council, (sponsored by Deanne Cromer,) The National Honor Society, P.A.L.S. (Tracy Thomas), High School Art (Ms. Trump), Elementary GT and Music took time out of their busy schedules and made "very unique" decorations for our home, and several came to and decorated beautifully.TYC will once again be a blessing by delivering gifts to our residents, as well as the Christian Motorcycle Association.Lisa Shultze made stockings full of goodies and delivered them on Saturday.Wednesday the Time Travelers will be here to sing and hand out items to our residents, and Heatstart will be here on Thursday to share with us their cute little voices!Saturday was the Resident's Christmas Party, where it was literally, STANDING ROOM ONLY.We had a PACKED HOUSE, which the residents loved seeing everyone! We were entertained by the Watsons, Brother Red, George, and Barbara, a trio singing sensations, as they helped the atmosphere be JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT with their wonderful voices.Santa Claus made his faithful appearance, once again, (Harrison Hammer,) and handed out gifts to all of our residents. Finally, everyone enjoyed a large array of delicious goodies provided by Dona Watson and Betty Ann Johnson. It was a very special time for everyone! We appreciate all of those that take time out to share the Christmas Spirit with us whatever way it may be!From all of us here at Eventide Nursing Home, may you have a VERY, MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
