What is Zumba?
Thursday, December 15, 2011 • Posted December 15, 2011

What is Z-u-m-b-a? It’s not in the dictionary; however, Cynthia Brand is an Instructor of a Zumba Class in San Saba at The Father’s House Youth Building, so I went to one of their meetings on Thursday, December 8th to find out about Zumba. The Zumba Program is an exhilarating effective easy to follow dance that blends Latin-inspired, calorie burning moves that is helping millions of people toward physical fitness, joy and health. This group also provides spiritual help as they pray together, and share nutritional and weight loss information. Cynthia was certified in Arlington, TX on September 24th, 2011, and started classes on October 1st. The classes are every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the cost is $5.00 a class OR $35.00 a month. During the month of December, they have been burning calories with Christmas music and will continue with Christian music starting Jan. 2. There will be no classes the week of December 26th. Cynthia plans to be certified for Zumba Gold, for ladies over 50; Zumba Toning, and Aqua Zumba in the near future. During the time I was attending the Zumba class my mind was reminding me that I was 70 years old, but my feet and body wanted to move with the music because I was really very impressed. Finding a healthier lifestyle is about changing what you do. Zumba Fitness can be that change. Cynthia can be contacted at 325-372-3613.
