The 56th annual San Saba County Extension Education council’s Pecan Food Show was held December 2nd at the Court House. Eight judges from neighboring counties chose Jackie Doner’s Pecan Brittle as the Club division Grand Champion. It also won in the San Saba Pecan Jam Candy’s Challenge back in October. Jeanne Sauer’s Glazed Nuts took the Reserve Champion honors. In the Non-Club division the Gennifer Brister’s Pecan Pie was given the Grand Champion rosette and Daisy McHorse’s Pumpkin Bread with crunchy topping took the Reserve Champion Honors.Austin Smith took home the Grand Champion Rosette with his Banana Pecan Bread and Dean Brister won the Reserve Champion honors with his Pecan Pie in the Youth Division. All of these winners and the recipes that are shared will appear in the 2012 Pecan Show Champions Cookbook.
