Watch out!!! On Thursday, December 8, 2011, San Saba ISD will be flooded with additional students!!! On this date, San Saba Middle School will be the host to the District 6AA UIL Academic Contest for grades 6 – 8. This is a very important event and it takes the entire high school and middle school facility to host the large number of students. Additionally, staff from all three campuses will be assisting in running the meet. Middle school teachers will play host as well as coach our students in the academic events. The schools in 6AA who will be coming to compete include: Early, Bangs, Coleman, Comanche, Dublin, Hamilton, Hico and of course, San Saba. Students compete in a variety of events including speaking events, writing events, math competition, social studies and spelling to name a few. Just as we value our athletic competition, we value our academic competition with these schools. Academic success is the key to doing well now and in the future, and this competition helps students remain interested in their academic studies. Once a student gets to high school and if they can compete on the state level in a UIL academic event, a scholarship is available to them. It’s a very important day for our school! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact SSMS principal Vicki Key or the middle school UIL coordinator, Leslie McIntosh. Please be mindful that students from the other schools are not aware of the traffic that we have around our school facilities. Please watch for these students as they cross Commerce Street and Wallace Street throughout the day on 12/8.Parents, let us know how we can help you the first day of school all the way until the last day of school!!
