Coyote Pride

The Lady Coyotes basketball team is off to a good start and they are 4-1 on the season. The Lady Coyotes played Jonesboro this past Tuesday and will play in the Gustine Tournament December 1-3. The junior high girls and boys played at Menard this past Monday. The varsity boys will be idle this week as they are still involved in state football playoff action. A good crowd supported the Coyotes at Hico Stadium, as the Coyotes notched a 72-22 quarter final victory over the Calvert Trojans. It was a warm, balmy afternoon for fans and players. Hats off to the cheerleaders for their efforts in boosting our school spirit.As teachers prepare for the new STAAR tests, let’s not forget we still have TAKS testing in grades 10 and 11. The first round of ELA TAKS testing for sophomores and juniors is only 55 school days away. Come visit with your child’s teachers and get involved in your child’s education. Gerald McKee commented that the San Saba County Livestock Show will be held Jan 20-21, 2012. Cold weather exerts more demands on show animals. Proper shelter and nutrition are important in keeping show animals healthy and growing. Contact Mr. McKee for assistance as necessary with your show animals.The elementary and junior high academic meets will be held next week. The elementary and junior high students will travel to Brookesmith on Wednesday, December 7th for UIL academic competition with area schools. Thanks to Nelson Smith for his help in organizing the academic meets.This week is the end of the 4th week in the 3rd six-week grading period, with only 10 ½ school days remaining prior to the Christmas break. Christmas break begins with an early release on December 16th, and students return to classes on January 3, 2012.There will be a “DRIVE FOR FIVE” pep rally Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. The Booster Club will have a $100 prize opportunity for one lucky person at the pep rally. We need a packed gym to cheer the Coyotes all the way to the state championship. Everyone is invited!! The Coyote Sports Booster Club will meet this Thursday immediately after the pep rally at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the old band hall. Please bring yourself and a friend and be a part of this exciting “Drive for Five.”Please come enjoy the food, fellowship, film, and door prizes. Bring your favorite covered dish. The semifinals game will be played against the Newcastle Bobcats at Jim Ned Consolidated Independent School District located in Tuscola, Texas. Tuscola is located about 20 miles south of Abilene on Hwy. 83. Richland Springs is Home Team and will sit on the Home Side. Ticket prices are $7 Adults/$4 Students.
