Howard Payne University’s Symphonic Band and Concert Choir will present a special Christmas concert Friday, December 2, at 8:00 p.m., in HPU’s Mims Auditorium. The students will perform many Christmas favorites. Selections include: “Holiday Overture,” by Kenneth Soper; “Emmanuel Variants,” by Robert Foster; the March from “1941,” a reminder of the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and a tribute to our military; “Gloria Fanfare,” by Jerry Ames; “Sleigh Ride,” by Leroy Anderson; and many more. “You won’t want to miss this musical holiday experience,” said Corey Ash, director of bands. “There is no charge for admission, and the warmth is free, too.”Following the concert will be a reception in the band rehearsal hall of the Davidson Music Complex with music provided by the HPU Student Brass Quintet.“We hope to see you there, but, if not, may your holiday season be filled with the joy of family and friends,” Ash said. “Most especially, may you know the joy of the greatest holiday gift of all time, Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.”
