Playoff – Week Two - It’s week two of the football playoffs, and the San Saba Armadillos are still in the fight!!! Congratulations to the ‘Dillos and coaching staff. The Area Football Game will be played Friday night, November 18 at the Bastrop Memorial Stadium at 755 TX 21 West just outside of Bastrop. We hope that you join us to support all our student athletes who work so hard and represent our school with pride. The football team, managers, band, cheerleaders and drill team members started this process back in August and they are committed to keep winning. The sports program and the extra curriculars and co-curriculars such as band, drill team and cheerleading take a great deal of participation time for our student athletes. The student athletes must balance their academic course work which is the top priority with practice and games. Sometimes because we share coaching staff between the high school and the middle school, early practice time is required to fit it all in to the day. For example, the 7th and 8th grade girls must come before school because their coaches also coach high school sports which are held in the afternoon and teach high school classes during the day. We can all agree there is not enough time in the day to get all our academic, athletic and extra curricular activities accomplished. I encourage parents and students to participate in as much as they can possible endure. The experiences and the learning that takes place and the discipline that is learned through athletics and extra-curricula activity participation is certainly a valuable component for future student success. Pack the Gym - SSHS Armadillo Pep Rally - Please come out and pack the Armadillo Arena and support the Lady 'Dillos in the Hill Country Classic, Thursday night. We hope you will join us for the girl’s game and stay afterward for a pep rally to support the Armadillos in the Area Football Game against East Bernard. The pep rally will be held after the 7:00 pm girl’s game on Thursday, November 17 at the Armadillo Arena! Please come out and support all these student athletes!November 14, 2011 marked the beginning of a new six-week grading period please be on the look out for the report card that will be coming home to parents before the Thanksgiving Holiday.
