Ladies Golf Notes
Thursday, November 17, 2011 • Posted November 17, 2011

It seems to be the end of an era, loosing Bobbie Churchill! She has been with us forever and was greatly loved by the ladies of the San Saba Ladies Golf Association. Her humor always kept us laughing, and her golf game was inspiring, and her love for her family was touching. She has a special place in each of our hearts. She gave many of the ladies a little golfing angel pin that is now a treasure to each of us. She was loving and generous and she and Frank always made a plaque for those ladies making a ‘hole in one’. She has served the organization in every way and always did more than her share, we could always count on Bobbie! She played on several different teams and won many tournaments, including the Opelia Little Cup, which was a coveted award within the organization. She was always telling me, “Anita, quit jerking and putt that ball” and my last visit with her we laughed about how she had always tried to coach me in her own special way. I loved her dearly. It was a special honor to the ladies to be named as honorary pall bearers at her memorial service. It will never seem the same without Bobbie! Our condolences go out to her beautiful family that so faithfully ministered to her in her last days. We had our business meeting this month and I need to announce that our Christmas party will be December 8, 2011 during our regular play day. And although we won’t be golfing, we will play games and will have a pizza lunch around noon and hope that many members can be present for the Christmas fun! Bring a snack if you want to and we will make our traditional contribution to the ministerial alliance in lieu of gifts! And we praise the Lord, for all our days of having joy and fellowship at the San Saba River Golf Course just loving each other and being able to keep on ‘swinging’!
