We were very happy to receive the .7 inch of rain last week. More is predicted for this week. Five members showed up for the Busy Bee quilting last week. They included Fay and Gloria Lusty, Carol Orr, Marilyn Miller and Irene Hammett. The ladies worked on Irene’s quilt and will do so again in January. There will be no quilting in December due to the Christmas party. Gifts will be exchanged as usual and the members are asked to bring finger foods. It will be held at Irene Hammett’s house. There were 3 tables of players at the 42 tournament last Saturday night at Mercury. Andy Cummings and Marilyn Suber won first place with Larry Griffin and David Hulme claiming second. The next tournament will be in Richland Springs on December 10th. The community meeting will be November 19th. Plan to be there to help plan the Christmas party. Recently Curtis Lee was honored with a surprise birthday party for his 85th birthday. It was held at the Country Club in Brownwood. There were 12 members of his tennis club present as well as 20 family members. Curtis can’t believe that not one of the grandkids “let the cat out of the bag!” He was indeed completely and pleasantly surprised! Curtis still plays tennis once a week. I think that is great. The Richland Springs Coyotes rolled over Buckholts last week by a score of 48-0. The game was called right after halftime. The Coyotes now face Jonesboro in Hico on Saturday. Good luck, boys. Bring home another trophy!
