The home of Robert and Sue Broyles was headquarters this past weekend for a large family gathering celebrating an early Thanksgiving as well as wishing Paul a happy belated 70th birthday on October 30th and Robert a happy 80th birthday coming up on Christmas day.The Broyles boys.......... Alex, Walt, Al, Andy, Robbie and Les, along with their sons Will, Colt, Trevor and Chase were the chief cooks with the help of Dustin, Daniel, Jake and George. They hauled in BBQ pits, fish cookers, woks and all sorts of cooking aids and food to show off their cooking abilities. For the Friday night steak supper they served 51 and Saturday morning 32 lined up for breakfast tacos with Will’s homemade tortillas, George’s homemade, New Mexico red and green chili and salsa. After snacks throughout the day, 68 filled up on fried catfish and all the trimmings Saturday night. Sunday morning 24 were still around for another wonderful breakfast of biscuits, sausage and gravy, refried beans, potatoes, muffins, and homemade jellies.Four generations of Broyles and their extended families were represented as well as long time friends and deer hunters who came by for a visit. The Broyles clan included George and Melinda Kiddie of Farmington, New Mexico; Daniel and Piper, Cooper and Campbell Garbarino of Beaumont; Billy Barnett, Shirley, Becka and Jayden of Cypress; Alex and Annie Broyles, Brenlea, Chase and friend Jake of New Braunfels; Walt and Laura Broyles of Eden; Colt Broyles of Kingsville; Jaec and Lacy Broyles Hardman, Morgan and Rayleigh of Glen Rose; Robbie and Paulie Broyles of Spring Branch; Les and Mandy Broyles, Katherine and friend Kelby of New Braunfels; Conner Barnett and friend Kristin, Trevor and Skye Broyles, friend Molly of College Station and Kate of Tarleton at Stephenville. From Cherokee were Paul and Sherri, Robert and Sue, Al and Christine, Andy and Susan, Will, Sarah, Leslie, Lily and Maeleigh Broyles; Dustin, Jimma, Briggen and Brayson Busenlehner; John and Ann Altizer.Other extended families include Pat and Jim Roderick of Blanco; Bub and Jan Hooten of Lometa; Swanie and Deloris Swanson of Cherokee and Jerry and Charlene Broyles Reavis of Bend.Friends visiting throughout the weekend include Tyler, Kari and Ellie Owen, Charlie Benskin, Rita Boultinghouse, Wayland and Mary Ann Perry, Johnnie and Betty Parisher and family, Charlie and Patty Fowler, Bob and Charlie Bledsoe, and Chad Decker. The little ones enjoyed the big jumping house, petting the chickens, roasting wieners, making S’mores, riding the golf cart and meeting and playing with their distant cousins.
