The San Saba County Commissioners Court met on Monday, November 14th at 9 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge, Byron Theodosis, welcomed everyone to the court and called the meeting to order. Commissioner, Kenley Kroll, gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. Commissioner Rickey Lusty was absent from the court.County Sheriff, Allen Brown, gave the following report:1. The vehicle registration office will be closed for installation of new equipment on December 8th.2. The part-time dispatchers are difficult to schedule because some of them also have full-time jobs, but they are working well together and getting schedules worked out.3. There is a need to get information and shots for hepatitus/HIV for law inforcement, and others in contact with prisoners that have these conditions.4. The new Restraint Chair is working well and helps restrain a person that is unruly or under the influence.5. Gave information about the new deputy’s assignment.6. Getting the jail ready for the Jail Standards Inspection. 7. Additional paperwork is needed for the new vehicle to be available for use.8. At the present time there are 6 prisoners in the local jail and 3 being held out of county.9. A deputy is assigned to each of the three county schools and will be available and on call.10. Arrests are up - especially evading arrests and burglaries/ thefts are down.Although there have been many drug related arrests, there are still people involved in this dangerous illegal situation.11. Skeebo has been announcing accidents and other emergency situations on the radio to help the VFD, EMS and law enforcement.12. The first fatality of the year occurred October 28th - a one car accident. The victim was from a neighboring town and was not wearing a seat belt. Also, last week there was a hunter found with a fatal gunshot wound - after investigation it was ruled an accidental death.The Commissioners approved, subject to audit, the following reports:A. County/District Clerk, Kim Wells.B. County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins.C. County Justice of the Peace, by Judge Les Dawson.D.County Sheriff, Allen Brown. Kenley Kroll verified the Jail report.The following Departmental reports were accepted: County Judge; County Extension Agents; County Indigent Health Care Program Director; County Grant Writer; County EMS; County Emergency Management Coordinator; County On-Site Sewage Facility Management Coordinator; County 9-1-1 Coordinator; County Trapper.The following Action Items were approved by the Court:a. The 2012 San Saba County resolution, Indigent Defense Grant Program - a yearly renewal.b. The Scott & White Employee Health Insurance plan was discussed and approved.c. People should call the Sheriff’s Department at 372-5551 to notify them before doing any outside burning.Attorney, David Williams has been available for legal information and help during the time that County Attorney, Tim Inman’s license has been revoked. Judge Theodosis read a letter from Tracy Little, President, Veterans County Service Officers Association of Texas, informing the County that Fred Hardy has been awarded the “Certificate of Appreciation” (Waco Region) for 2011. The Court extends congratulations to Fred Hardy who is well deserving of this award.Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting.
