Dear Editor:

On behalf of the San Saba Festival Association, officers and board of directors, please accept our deep appreciation for the strong community support of the inaugural San Saba River Pecan Jam. With over 2,400 attendees, most of whom came from out of town, our local community rose to the occasion with their hard work and energy. Many thanks are in order, but most importantly, praise God for His blessings. We had beautiful weather, wonderful crowds and zero incidents. Thanks to our committee chairs for organizing a terrific day: Jack Blossman, Shela Meador, Joanne Weik, Cynthia Weatherby, Trish Fullerton, Lynn Blankenship, Karen Johnson, Tony Guidroz, Marcia Dyer, Dora Miller and Lynn McHenry. However, I must single out Paul Gast, our Logistics Chair, who coordinated numerous volunteer to handle parking, shuttle services, signage, trash removal, security, electrical/mechanical and sanitation. Without Paul and his team, Pecan Jam would not have happened. Please thank the City of San Saba employees, under the leadership of Stan Weik and Scott Glaze, for the permanent improvements made to Risien Park and Mill Pond Park in anticipation of Pecan Jam, improvements that will serve our local citizens and visitors well into the future. Please thank and patronize our faithful sponsors, all of whom believed in our event, thus providing the financial security to make it happen. In particular, I thank our board of directors, namely Gale Ivy, Marcia Dyer, Trish Fullerton, Scott Meador, Tony Guidroz and Shawn Oliver, for their tireless work and commitment for the past year in the planning and meeting to ensure a first-class event for the San Saba River city, county and region. With 51 weeks to go until Pecan Jam II, mark you calendars.Mike McHenryPresident, San Saba Festival Association, San Saba, TX.Dear Editor:
