The San Saba City Council held a Public Hearing prior to their regular meeting on Monday, November 7th at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.Mayor, Ken Jordan called the meeting to order, welcomed everyone and announced a quorum present with Shawn Oliver and Oleta Behrens absent. The City staff and employees helped with many of the details and work to help make the Festival very successful. The Employee of the Month award was presented to Jesse Gonzalez. Jesse has worked in the Parks Department for three years. He was presented with a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant, a day off with pay, and his name added to the awards plaque. The Supervisor of the Quarter award was presented to Tony Guidroz, Tourism/Economic Development Director. Tony was presented with a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant, a day off with pay, and his name added to the awards plaque.A Llano woman addressed the Council and offered to repay charges in the amount of $256.10 that she made on a City credit card without permission and pleaded that they not file charges against her for this crime. The following Consent Agenda Items were approved by the Council:1. Minutes from the October 11, 2011 Council Meeting.2. Payment of bills presented to City Council.3. Resolution No. 2011-24 appointing Mayor, Ken Jordan to a two year staggered term for 2012 and 2013 of the San Saba County Appraisal Board of Directors.The following Action Items were discussed and approved:A. Resolution No. 2011-25, budget amendments for FY 2010-2011.B. Ordinance No. 2011-11 allowing Stan & Joann Weik to purchase a portion of easement to Live Oak Street adjacent to their home at 602 E. Chappel, being approximately 25 feet.Stan Weik, City Manager, reported on the following:a. The Pecan Jam.b. Update on new Fire Department building construction.c. Events of the weekend of November 4th.d. TxDOT plans a four lane coast to coast road that includes San Saba - at least 15 years in the future - to include our area; however, not too early to plan ahead. e. Distributed a list of approximately 40 accomplishments/improvements in the City, including eight new businesses during the past year ending October 31. Larry Alderson, Electric Department Supervisor, gave a report about the two new vacuum breakers installed. Keith Harris, Golf Pro, reported on the activities and camping at the golf course.Scott Glaze, Parks Director showed pictures of the following: 1. The new vacuum breakers being installed.2. The wrecked trailer.3. The sewer plant area after being dredged.4. Improvements to the road by the water fall.5. LCRA installing equipment at the Electric Station.6. A controlled burn at a designated area - set to burn after 24 hr. notice of burn.
