The JH Bulldogs of Mullin couldn’t quite get their paws around the football last Thursday night at Bulldog Stadium. Nothing stalls a drive any quicker than a fumble, and the JH Bulldogs put the ball on the ground 7 times, recovered by the alert Coyotes. I’m sure the drizzling rain had something to do with the slick football, but more likely, the loose footballs were caused by the Coyotes hitting the Bulldog runners as they were trying to receive the handoffs. The result 48-0, Coyotes win, mercy rule enforced in the third period. Brian Salinas returned the opening kickoff 45 yards for a touchdown and the rout was on. Salinas would score on a 1 yard run and then a 32 yard run following fumble recoveries by the Coyotes. Brandon Tharp made a beautiful run on a reverse for 6 points and Michael McElvain ran 15 yards for a score after another donation from the slippery pawed Bulldogs. Jonathan Salinas outran defenders to the endzone for another score and brother Brian returned a Bulldog punt for a touchdown punishing several would-be tacklers on his way to the endzone. Brian Salinas kicked two PATs for 4 points and Hutton Lusty and Jacob Coleman converted PATs on running plays. Jordan Burkhart seemed to have no problem handling the football in the cold misting rain. Defensively, Jonathan Salinas was the big man in the middle recovering 3 Bulldog miscues. Jordan Burkhart recovered two fumbles and Brian Salinas and Michael McElvain recovered one each. Jacob Coleman was in the Bulldog backfield most of the night and Hutton Lusty sealed his edge recording the most tackles for the Coyotes. Justin Patino, Jeremy Martin, Chandler Lusty, Cody Pardy, Matthew Bivins, Reid Blodgett, and Brandon Tharp all made significant contributions in the winning effort. The undefeated JH Coyotes are now 7-0 and have clinched the JH District Championship. Congratulations to all the JH Coyote players on a fine season. Go Coyotes Go !!!!
