8th Dillos capture Ozona Lions 24-12

San Saba's 8th Grade Dillos were few in number (11). The young Dillos put on a great performance on offense and defense to defeat Ozona's 8th grade Lions by a score of 24 to 12 at Rogan Field last Thursday night.Ozona kicked to San Saba to open the contest. Holt Oliver returned the ball 15 yards. Emiliano Rocha ran for 10 and 6 yards, David Valencia added 7, Rocha added 4, 10, 4 and 6 before exploding for a 20 yard touchdown run. John Watson ran in the extra points. 8-0, Dillos. John Welch, Logan Guidroz, Roy Argote, Joey Salinas, Roberto Coronado, Ramiro Coronado, Robbie Hensley all provided blocking on the drive. San Saba kicked to Ozona. David Valencia had a big hit on the first play from scrimmage. Ozona ate up most of the rest of the first quarter on offense. The Lions scored from 6 yards out. Joey Salinas stopped the extra point try. 8-6, Dillos.Just into the second quarter, Ozona kicked to San Saba. Rocha had runs of 1 and 8 yards, Valencia erupted for 20. Rocha added 8 and 15. The Dillos fumbled at the Lion 4 yard line. Ozona got the fumble. The Lions drove to San Saba's 25 yard line before the half ended. 8-6, Dillos. Joey Salinas and Robert Coronado had big defensive plays before the half.San Saba kicked to Ozona to begin the second half. John Welch made a good tackle on the kick-off. Emiliano Rocha had good defensive play. Holt Oliver, John Watson, Logan Guidroz, Robert Hensley, Ramiro and Roberto Coronado, David Valencia, Roy Argote and Joey Salinas played good, hard Dillo defense. Ozona was forced to punt.
