This is the last week of Early Voting for the School Construction Bond Election. Please recall that Early Voting takes place at the Council Chambers at the San Saba City Hall at 303 South Clear Street. Patrons can participate in Early Voting from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm until Friday, November 4. Election Day is Tuesday, November 8, 2011 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. By the time the next edition of the San Saba News is published we will have results of this very important election. I appreciate the interest and the good questions that have been asked of our school board, our staff and all those who work on behalf of the school. The questions have been good and have helped clarify some of the issues surrounding this election. If you have not had your questions answered, please give me a call at 325/372-3771 or please talk to one of your school board members. As well, extensive information is available on our web site at www.san-saba.net. I would like to remind everyone of the items that are covered by the bond election: renovation of 2 existing high school science labs to make one legal lab space, renovation of a high school classroom for a life skills room, new construction of a 2 lab/classroom high school science facility, new construction of a San Saba Elementary Campus. One of the most important things to remember is that the elementary school can not simply be maintained. Maintenance is not the issue. The buildings are well maintained; sometimes buildings no longer meet the demand that is placed on them. That is the case at elementary. Regardless if the bond passes or not, the elementary school will undergo improvements. It makes good financial sense to have low interest funds to assist with improving SSES and the other facility needs of the District. Parents, let us know how we can help you the first day of school all the way until the last day of school!!
