Everett's Furniture & Emporium is hosting a Kenneth Wyatt Art Show & Sale of Western and Christian-themed art by renowned artist Kenneth Wyatt. The event is Saturday, November 5th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 122 S. Cherokee St., San Saba. You'll know the show is starting when Wyatt's 30-foot-long rolling gallery -- emblazoned with stampeding cattle and horses, pulls up to Everett's Furniture & Emporium. You'll know how popular the works of this West-Texas artist are by the enthusiastic folks waiting to enter the air-conditioned trailer that is chock-full of original oils and reproductions of Wyatt's work. "People are always startled by the richness and vibrancy of these paintings," said Wyatt representative Bobby Edwards, who acts as trail guide to those touring the trailer-gallery: "the work touches a deep part of the viewer's soul -- especially the Texas viewer," he adds with a smile.Brad Everett, owner of Everett's Furniture & Emporium said that people can't seem to get enough of this artist -- from his paintings to his books, sculptures, and crosses. "We have many repeat customers -- serious collectors -- who come to see his latest work; others are drawn by the images on the trailer outside. But they all have one thing in common -- once they see it, they're hooked," he said.Wyatt turned 81 in July but don't even think about him slowing down, he painted 46 paintings last year and he's still going strong. Two years ago, he finished a large painting commissioned by the University of Texas. It's a herd of longhorns and their calves called '"Texas Cattle". He also recently finished another commission commemorating the outdoor play, "Texas" in Palo Duro Canyon, in which a rider with a Texas flag rides on the rim of the canyon above the amphitheater. This is what the painting portrays; it is called" 'Rider on the Rim", and is on the cover of the program. Prints of both of these new paintings will be available.A retired Methodist preacher, Wyatt paints a wide range of subjects in addition to western, including landscapes, children and portraits. One of his most moving projects was his interpretation of each of the Apostles; "each one different, each one a challenge, each one taking shape on the woven threads of cloth, with layer upon layer of paint until that Apostle looked out from the canvas onto the world that he was called by Christ to save and serve," wrote Wyatt. A collage of these images of the Apostles will be available in limited quantities during the show, said, Everett.Everett's Furniture & Emporium are honored to host a show by Kenneth Wyatt," said Everett.
