Thursday, October 27, 2011 • Posted October 27, 2011

It took the Coyotes more than 8 seconds to tame the Brookesmith Mustangs last Thursday night at Coyote Ranch, but by the end of the half, the Junior Mustangs had been gentled and safely settled in their stalls for the night. No whips or spurs were used on the broncs just good old fashioned hard hitting football. The final tally was 52-6, the mercy rule enforced at halftime. Brian Salinas (The Horse Whisperer) galloped 61 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage to get the wild mustangs attention. Salinas then started throwing touchdown passes like he was tossing horseshoes, by the end of the game he was riding shotgun, providing protection for his Cowboy Coyotes teammates. Hutton (Hoss) Lusty, Reid (Rowdy) Blodgett, Matthew (Maverick) Bivins all were burrs under the Mustangs’ saddle blankets with touchdown runs of 52 yards, 14 yards and 29 yards respectively. Jacob(Big Jake) Coleman caught one of the Salinas’ passes for 16 yards and a touchdown. Jordan (Bullwhip) Burkhart scored on a touchdown run and caught one of Salinas’ passes for another touchdown. Jonathan(JB) Salinas snagged a pass off his boot tops and ran it in for 6 points. Brandon (Iron) Tharp had a nice run for positive yards and left his mark on the flanks of several Mustangs. Jacob Coleman, Hutton Lusty, Jordan Burkhart and Brian Salinas, shook out their loops and lassoed most of the unruly Mustangs on defense, while Wranglers Chandler Lusty, Cody Pardy, Justin Patino, Jeremy Martin and Michael McElvain rounded up and corralled any strays. The now 6-0 Junior High Coyotes will take their Wild West Show on the road to Mullin to face the Bulldogs this Thursday evening at 6:00 PM. Go Coyotes Go !!!
