The senior year in high school always seems to fly by quickly. Our 2012 seniors will be recognized at the last home football game on October 28th. Senior students are Jose Avila, Stormi Davee, Ashley Ferguson, Kensie Green, John Greenwood, Sara Hedley, Courtney Herbert, Nicholas Moore, Winston Poe, James Ramsey, Denim Reeves, Cheyenne Tharp, Danny Tillery, Justin Trevino, Ben VanCleave, and Tra Williams. The RS Football Sweetheart and Football Beau will also be announced at the last home game against the Mullin Bulldogs. All three football teams were victorious last week. The junior high beat Brookesmith. The junior varsity beat the Zephyr jv. The varsity Coyotes set a school record of 9 interceptions in the 96-8 halftime victory over Brookesmith. Brookesmith was trailing 90-8 and called 3 timeouts inside the Coyote 5 yard line with less than 30 seconds left in the game. On 4th and goal, the Brookesmith quarterback launched an errant pass and senior Jose Avila returned an interception 82 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the game.Another Richland Springs senior received local honors this past weekend. Congratulations to Sara Hedley who was named San Saba Pecan Queen at the San Saba Pecan Jam Celebration this past weekend. Sara is very active in San Saba County 4H activities and writes many great articles about 4H for the San Saba News and Star. Sara is very appreciative of the scholarship she received.Football action continues this week for all three teams. The junior high Coyotes will travel to Mullin on Thursday to play the Mullin junior high at 6:00 p.m. The junior varsity Coyotes will travel to Zephyr on Thursday to play the Zephyr junior varsity. The varsity Coyotes will host Mullin on Friday for the last district game. The Coyotes can wrap up another District Championship with a win over the Mullin Bulldogs. The Coyotes are now (9-0) for the year and (3-0) in district play. District play continues the week of November 4th, but Richland Springs has a bye and is open the last week of district play. Come out and support the cheerleaders and the student athletes at the games; you won’t be disappointed! Check-out the new Coyote spirit items in the Booster Club trailer.The Richland Springs Independent School District has received a ‘Superior Achievement’ rating for the 2009-2010 school year on School FIRST, or Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.This reminder to parents that there will be an early release at 12:54 this Friday for all students only. Busses will run at 12:54. Teachers are available for Teacher/Parent conferences during the afternoon on Friday. Please schedule a conference with your child’s teacher and visit with teachers about your child’s success in education. Parent involvement is a key to student success. Community involvement is the key to our success!
