Visionaries in Preservation to meet July 10th
Thursday, July 10, 2008 • Posted July 10, 2008

The next meeting of the San Saba Visionaries in Preservation (VIP) Leadership Committee will be held Thursday, July 10th, at the Church of Christ at 204 Wallace St. The topic for the meeting will be landscape architecture and conducting historical surveys. The speaker will be Dr. Michael Murphy, professor of Landscape Architecture from Texas A&M University.

The task forces of San Saba’s VIP program will report on their progress and strategize on their next steps. VIP is the community planning program of the Texas Historical Commission (THC). VIP asks residents how they want their community to look and feel and provides the necessary tools to help San Saba retain its identity and sense of place as it grows and changes.

Since February, San Saba’s VIP Leadership Committee has been meeting once a month to identify preservation and livability issues throughout San Saba and create solutions to those issues. The program started in February and will end in August. At the end of the program, San Saba will have a preservation action plan that will make historic buildings and other assets fundamental parts of continued economic and cultural growth.

The VIP task forces have been working hard to implement the goals of the action plan. At this meeting, each task force will report on progress made and challenges encountered , plus will create strategies for future actions.

Your participation is essential! Even if you could not make the past meetings, you can still take part in this important group and help preserve the places that make San Saba unique.
