The news this week will be all but non existing, because Jo and Bill Price will be attending a work shop in Belton Monday for Ombudsman starting at 10:00 a.m. which will give no time to gather news for the column. For some unknown reason people do not appreciate being called around 4:00 a.m. to get info for the Bend news, therefor will go with what is known. The cake auction, fish fry, silent auction and carnival games went off as scheduled Saturday night at the community center with wonderful weather. Jackie Brister had set up tables and chairs outside to make sure everyone had plenty of places to sit and enjoy the meal. There was a wonderful turn out to take part in all the activities. A special thanks goes out to Jackie and his crew, to Howard Rockafellow who auctioned off the cakes, to Earl Sutton who cooked the wonderful pot of beans, and to Dennis Scroggins who had collected some wonderful door prizes from Tractor Supply and the Sonic Drive Inn in Lampasas and the ladies in the community who contributed to the door prizes and baked the goods for the auction. A big thanks goes out to everyone that attended, that bid on the cakes and the silent auction. The children all had a great time playing the games and getting their faces painted. The biggest item on the silent auction was the Elk steak dinner for four that would be at the home of Jackie and Charlene Brister.Tob McWilliams was a high bidder for that.It was reported that no one from the Bend won a prize at the telephone meeting in Brady, well that was a big mistake, as Mebbie Eckhoff reported that she won a picture frame and it is now sitting in a place of honor in her living room. May Jo get whipped with a wet noodle for making such a mistake?Keep Tommie Cobern’s sister Sammie in your prayers as she is undergoing Chemo and also for Jennifer Goodson the daughter of George and Toni Mayben who is also taking Chemo and for anyone else in the community that is ill and in need of prayer.A happy birthday wish goes out to Ryan Brister who will celebrate a birthday November 1. Congra-tulations go out to George and Toni Mayben who will celebrate an anniversary November 1, and also to Lester and Lilly LeMaster who will also be celebrating their anniversary November 1.The news this week will be all but non existing, because Jo and Bill Price will be attending a work shop in Belton Monday for Ombudsman starting at 10:00 a.m. which will give no time to gather news for the column.
