The Junior High Coyotes put on quite a show last Thursday evening in Lohn blasting the Eagles 52-6. Coach Jerry Burkhart used a various assortment of weapons in the victory which ended early in the fourth quarter due to the mercy rule. With the older players on the sidelines or used as blockers for much of the game, some of the younger players took full advantage of the opportunity to get into the endzone. Reid Blodgett had a 44 yard run for a touchdown. Brandon Tharp scampered for 33 yards and 6 points. Jonathan Salinas caught a 26 yard touchdown pass from brother Brian and picked off an errant Eagle throw returning it for six points and also had a great 42 yard run stopped just short of the end zone. Hutton Lusty ran 20 yards for a score and caught a Jordan Burkhart toss and ran it into the endzone for a 52 yard touchdown. Jacob Coleman caught a Brian Salinas pass for a score and later added another catch for a PAT conversion. Chandler Lusty and Michael McElvain both had PAT scoring runs. Jordan Burkhart had a 35 yard TD called back due to a penalty and Cody Pardys’ PAT run was also nullified due to a penalty. Brian Salinas threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, and looked like a bulldozer clearing the running lanes for the younger Yotes. The fledging Eagles couldn’t fly against the whirlwind created by the young pack of Coyotes. Hutton Lusty, Brian Salinas, Jonathan Salinas, Jordan Burk-hart, Michael McElvain, and Jacob Coleman, all registered sacks for negative yardage against the Eagles. Jeremy Martin clogged the middle of the defensive line and Matthew Bivins got into the action on special teams. The scrappy Coyotes had some hits and blocks in this game that may have a couple of Eagles reconsidering their choice of extracurricular activities. The undefeated Richland Springs Junior High Coyotes will try to extend their winning streak (5-0) this Thursday against the Brookesmith Mustangs JH at Coyote Field, scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Go Coyotes Go !!!!
