San Saba 8th Grade Dillos slaughter Harper Longhorns

San Saba's 8th Grade Dillos defeated Harper's Longhorns in Harper by a score of 32-6. This was a district opener for both teams. San Saba was in control from the beginning.

Harper kicked to San Saba to begin the contest. Holt Oliver returned the kick 20 yards, Emiliano Rocha gained 9 yards, was held for no gain, then added runs of 7, 5, and 2 yards. A penalty moved the ball back 5. Rocha ran for 5, then 5 more before breaking loose for a 33 yard touchdown run. The PAT failed. 6-0 Dillos. Blocking by John Faught, John Welch, Robby Hensley, Ramiro Coronado, Roberto Coronado, Logan Guidroz, Roy Argote, Joey Salinas, David Valencia, Ricardo Garcia and Jose Robles paved the way.

San Saba kicked to Harper. David Valencia and Jose Robles made a good tackle. Valencia and Robby Hensley teamed for another good tackle. Logan Guidroz added another good tackle. Jose

Robles, Roberto Coronado made good defensive plays. Roberto Coronado blocked a Longhorn punt and recovered the ball. The offense went back to work. Valencia ran for 2 yards, Rocha had runs of 7 and 2 yards. John Watson took a hand off from Oliver for a 25 yard touchdown run. The PAT failed, 12-0 Dillos with 34 seconds left in the first quarter.

San Saba kicked to Harper. Logan Guidroz made a good tackle on the first play from scrimmage. Roberto Coronado caused a fumbled pitch on a Harper option play. Logan Guidroz fell on the fumble for San Saba. Emiliano Rocha ran for 2 yards, then 5 and 4. Rocha added 7 more before breaking loose for 16 yards and a score. The PAT failed, 18-0, Dillos. Roberto Coronado, Ray Argote, Joey Salinas, David Valencia, John Watson, Ramiro Coronado, John Welch and Ricardo Garcia did the blocking.

San Saba kicked to Harper. Roberto Coronado made a good tackle on the kick off. Harper tried to pass. The first pass was incomplete. The second pass was tipped and intercepted by Emiliano Rocha. Back on offense, David Valencia ran for 7 yards, Rocha 1, 6, 15, Valencia 5, Rocha 8, 2, 4, 5 and 4. A pass from Oliver to Logan Guidroz was good for a Dillo score. The PAT failed, 24-0, Dillos.

San Saba kicked to Harper. Joey Salinas had a big hit on the kick off. Harper completed one pass before half time came, 24-0, Dillos.

San Saba kicked to Harper to begin the second half. Harper began a long drive, the first pass was incomplete. After a penalty, the Longhorns connected on a 37 yard pass followed by a 45 yard run. San Saba's defense led by David Valencia, Joey Salinas, Roberto Coronado and Robby Hensley stopped Harper 3 times at the one foot line. San Saba began a field-length drive from their own one foot mark, Oliver gained 5. Rocha ran for 5, then 4, Valencia added 12 then 4. Rocha 3, Valencia 5 as the 3rd quarter ended, 24-0, Dillos.

In the 4th quarter, the drive continued as Rocha added 1, then 25 and 3. Oliver 3, Rocha 4, Valencia 6, Rocha was helf for no gain, Valencia added i, Rocha 4, Valencia 3, then 2. Emiliano Rocha capped the drive with a 3 yard plunge. Valencia added the PAT, 32-0, Dillos.

San Saba kicked to Harper with less than 9 minutes to play. Harper connected on a 55 yard pass play to score with 38 seconds left. The PAT failed, 32-6, Dillos. Harper tried an on-side kick covered by Joey Salinas. Holt Oliver knelt the ball for the victory. The 8th grade Dillos really played well with few mistakes.
