Old rivalries Never Die
Thursday, October 13, 2011 • Posted October 13, 2011

Whether you’re an Indian or a Coyote, 3-2 or 5-0, the energy on the field is indescribable! The Indians knew what they were up against and no one needed to remind them that it was the first game of district play. With just over 6:00 left in the 1st quarter, E.J. Borchers ran in an 8 yard run for a touchdown. The Indians were then down just 6-7. The Indian offense was shut down by the defending state champs until late in the 2nd quarter. With 0:03 on the clock, Stephen Austermann sailed a 22-yard pass connecting with Borchers to bring the score to 14-53. If you know any history of the Coyotes you know what a rarity it is to see them playing in the second half. Choosing to take a gamble, the Indians kicked it short hoping to recover an on-side kick. Just like any gamble you win and lose some, and this turned out as a loss as another quick Coyote recovered the ball and ran it back to close out the game at the half at 59-14. Borchers, who scored both touchdowns, was the team’s leading defensive player and was named Player of the Week. The Indians have an open week this week and will play at Lohn on the 21st. Come out and support your Indians.
