Graveside service for long time Cleburne resident, Evelyn Doty, 79, of San Saba, Texas was conducted Friday, October 7, 2011 at Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. The family received visitors Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne.

Mrs. Doty passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Temple, Texas. She was born in Cleburne, Texas on June 27, 1932, the daughter of Mamie (Smith) and Henry Jefferson Ballew. Evelyn married Gene F. Doty on September 16, 1949.

Evelyn was a seamstress and had worked at Walls Industries, Twaddell’s, and Cowan Costumes. Evelyn was a member of Field Street Baptist Church. She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed that time spent together. Evelyn loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife and mother. Evelyn was soft, sweet and very loving and never had a bad thing to say unless the Cowboys or Rangers lost. One of her favorite hobbies was playing dominoes and 42 with family and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Doty; brother, Howard L. "Bud" Ballew; and great-great-grandson, Adam Roberts.

Evelyn Doty is survived by her sons, Glenn Doty and wife, Barbara, of Temple, and Michael Doty and wife, Suzanne, of Cleburne; daughters, Charlotte Doty of Cleburne and Phyllis Davis of San Saba; brother, Henry Bernard Ballew of Cleburne and sister, Mary Ellen Milstead and husband, Veyon, of Burleson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cheri and Jeff McCowen and their four children of Cleburne, Michelle and Charles Sanders and their five children of Cleburne, Greg and Jessica Scarber and their two children of Burleson, Brent and Celeste Doty and their child of Temple, Bryan and Hannah Doty and their two children of Englewood, Colo., Blake Doty of Temple, Scarlet Doty of Cleburne, Hattie Doty of Cleburne, Sarah and Waylon McCoury and their three children of San Saba, Tara and Timothy Ketchum and their two children of San Saba and Kara "Buffy" Davis of San Saba; and one great-great-grandchild.
