Little Dillo Football Report
Thursday, October 6, 2011 • Posted October 6, 2011

On Saturday, October 1st, the San Saba 3rd and 4th grade football team traveled to Lampasas to play the Johnson City Eagles. The Dillos played well and came out on top 26-16. The defense played very well only allowing one touchdown (the other came on a kick return). Leading the way on defense was Able Martinez, Jett Hibler, James Whitney, Cutter Daniels, James Carlisle, Johnny Meador, Bladen Calley, J.T. Moreno, Sean Britton, Mauricio Rodriguez, Ryan Mathis, Christian VanBibber, Luis Ramirez and Jeremiah Jimenez. The lone TD came on the opening drive, after some adjustments the Dillo D "rooted" in and dominated the Eagles's offense the rest of the game. Shortly after the 1st touchdown was made by Johnson City, the Dillo offense drove the ball down to the one yard line, where on 4th down Sean O'Keefe ran around the left side for our 1st score of the game. Able Martinez split the uprights making the score 8 all. After a punt by the Eagles the Dillos once again drove the ball down the field. Risien Shahan ran the offense with some good runs by Cutter Daniels and some great blocking by Jackson Nelson, Logan Glover, Jose Gamboa, Westin Lackey, John-Samuel Mays, Landin Short and Jake Faught. Sean O'Keefe then ran for a 40 yard TD, the extra point was no good making it 14-8. After the ball went back and forth on downs several times, the Dillos spread the Eagle D out and Sean O'Keefe turned a QB sneak into a 50 yard TD, the extra point was no good, making it 20-8 at the half. Our last touchdown of the game came midway through the 4th, once again Sean O'Keefe got around the right side and zigzagged his way to the end zone. The extra point was missed making the final score, San Saba 26, Johnson City 16.With this win the Little Dillos are 2-1 on the season and tied for 1st with 3 games left. We would also like to congratulate the 5th and 6th grade on their win over Johnson City, 8-0. This puts them at 2-1 on the year with a big game against Llano coming up this week. This Saturday, October 8th, both teams will be playing at Rogan Field. The 3rd and 4th grade play at 9:00 a.m., with the 5th and 6th grade to follow at 10:00 a.m. Join us Saturday and come watch the future of Armadillo football, admission $1.00.
