Richland Springs JH tackle Tigers of Gustine JH...52-6
Thursday, October 6, 2011 • Posted October 6, 2011

The Junior Coyotes allowed only one first down and a score enroute to a 52-6 rout of the Gustine Tigers JH at Coyote Field last Thursday night to continue the domination of their schedule. The Tigers had no answer for all-purpose spreadback Brian Salinas nor the shutdown swarming defense of the Coyotes. The Coyotes executing their offense perfectly, allowed Salinas to rush for two touchdowns, passing for two more, and kicking 5 of 7 PATs for an additional 10 points. Brian also had an interception return for a score. Hutton Lusty was a beast on defense, recording many tackles, recovering a fumble, intercepting a pass and finished off his night with a beautiful 45 yard touchdown run to end the game due to 45 point mercy rule. Quarterback Jordan Burkhart handled the ball flawlessly and scored on a 15 yard pass from Salinas. Defensively, Jordan also recovered a fumble and tallied many tackles and sacks. Jonathan Salinas scored on a 16 yard run and Michael McElvain made a great catch, and sprinted in for a touchdown, ignoring a grab to his facemask. Domination is only accomplished through a total team effort, Brandon Tharp, Jacob Coleman, Matthew Bivins, Justin Patino, Jeremy Martin, Chandler Lusty, Cody Pardy, Traven Day, and Reid Blodgett, all contributed in the winning effort. The JH Coyotes welcomed newcomer Brice Davis to the squad this week. Brice proved himself an agile player with some size and quickness and did a good job stuffing the middle of the defensive line. The 3-0, Junior High Coyotes, will host the cross-county rival Cherokee Indians JH at Coyote Field at 6:00 PM Thursday, with the JV game to follow.
