8th grade Dillos pluck the Eagles 20-6

San Saba 8th grade Dillos defeated the Goldthwaite 8th Grade Eagles by a score of 20-6 in Goldthwaite last Thursday night. It was a hard hitting action packed game. Goldthwaite kicked to San Saba to start the game. San Saba gained a first down but the drive stalled and the Dillos punted. The Dillo defense held on plays by David Valencia, John Watson, Roy Argote, Roberto and Ramiro Coronado. San Saba took over. Emiliano Rocha ran for 2 yards, John Faught ran for 25. Rocha added 3 then 9. A Dillo pass interception stalled the drive a little, but Goldthwaite fumbled and the offense regained possession. Rocha ran for 3 yards then 20. John Welch added 5, Emiliano Rocha ran 10 yards for the Dillos first score, the PAT failed, 6-0, Dillos. Good blocking by John Welch, John Watson, Logan Guidroz, Robbie Hensley, Ramiro Coronado, David Valencia, Roberto Coronado and Joey Salinas opened holes in the Eagle line. San Saba kicked to Goldthwaite. John Watson fell on a short kick to give San Saba the ball.The second quarter began with San Saba in charge. Rocha ran for 3, Welch 5, and Oliver 2, before a Dillo fumble killed the drive. The Dillo defense rose up. Logan Guidroz knocked down an Eagle pass. Ramiro Coronado had a good tackle behind the line. Goldthwaite turned the ball over on downs. Emiliano Rocha took a hand off from Holt Oliver and raced 45 yards for a touchdown behind blocks by David Valencia, John Watson, Roy Argote, Jose Robles, Ricardo Garcia, Logan Guidroz and Joey Selinas. The PAT was rubbed out by a penalty, 12-0, San Saba. San Saba kicked to Goldthwaite. David Valencia, Joey Salinas, Emiliano Rocha, Ramiro Coronado and John Welch played good defense. The half ended. San Saba 12 - Goldthwaite 0.Goldthwaite started the second half by running back the kick off for a touchdown. The PAT failed, 12-6, Dillos. Goldthwaite tried an onside kick recovered by Roberto Coronado. Emiliano Rocha ran for 3 yards, John Welch added 3. Welch was injured on the play. David Valencia moved to fullback to replace Welch. Rocha ran for 5 and 3 yards. Holt Oliver added 2 yards and a first down. David Valencia added 5 yards, Rocha had runs of 6, 4, 4, and 2 before the Dillos gave the ball over on downs. The Dillo defense held tough as the quarter changed.Goldthwaite gained a first down on a facemask penalty. Joey Salinas had a big defensive play followed by a good play by Ramiro Coronado, Logan Guidroz tackled a Goldthwaite receiver on 4th down to give San Saba the ball. Emiliano Rocha ran for 4 yards then 4 more and then 3, before breaking loose on a 30 yard touchdown run to ice the game. David Valencia ran in the PAT, 20-6, Dillos. Some good blocks were provided by Ricardo Garcia, John Watson, Robbie Hensley, Jose Robles, Ramiro Coronado, Roberto Coronado, Ray Argote and Joey Salinas. San Saba kicked to Goldthwaite.
