Thursday, October 6, 2011 • Posted October 6, 2011

The San Saba Family and Consumer Sciences students enrolled in Culinary, completed their ServSafe Certification and received their certificates to help build their resumes and portfolios in the culinary industry. ServSafe is a food safety training and certificate program administered by the National Restaurant Association. The program is accredited by ANSI and the Conference for Food Protection and the Texas Restaurant Association. Students spent approximately 6 weeks covering material and information to prepare for their exam. They learned about food safety, food & hygiene, time & temperature control standards, cross-contamination, and cleaning & sanitizing. Students had to make an 80% or higher to receive certification. San Saba High School FCS teacher, Alesha Rogers, is very proud of their hard work and dedication to complete the program.
