Candy makers from across Texas are invited to compete with their best homemade pecan candy recipes in the 1st Annual Pecan Candy Challenge being held in conjunction with the San Saba River Pecan Jam on October 22nd. Individuals of all ages may enter any type of candy as long as it contains pecans and does not require refrigeration. There is no registration fee and recipes are not required. Cash prizes will be awarded. $100 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd place and $50 for 3rd place.For your convenience, there will be two registration sites. From 8:30 am until 9:30 am you may bring your entry to Alamo Pecan & Coffee (601 East Wallace). From 10 am until 11am entries can be brought to the Pecan Candy Challenge tent located next to the Culinary Delight pavilion on the Pecan Jam grounds.
