Classmates, spouses and friends of the Class of 1956 gathered Saturday, September 24 at the beautiful San Saba River Golf Course Pavilion for their 55th class reunion. As everyone began arriving around 10 a.m. pictures, class mementos and many, many "remember when's" were exchanged while everyone got reacquainted. Each class member introduced themselves and their guests and gave a short summation of their lives since our school days. Emails from many members were read. We lost three classmates since our last reunion and memorial gifts in their memory were given for Billy Hicks, Don Woodruff and Larry Barker. We visited and reminisced until lunch time then we had a delicious lunch of Bar-B-Que Buns and link sausage, potato salad, deviled eggs and beans. Several class members rounded the meal out with wonderful desserts.Class pictures were taken and we made plans to meet again September 22, 2012. It was a great day.Twenty-five class members attending were Joel Daniel, Grandbury; Roscoe Laird, San Marcus; Billy Loggains, Waxahachie; Roland Lindsey, Georgetown; Charles Reynolds, Quanah; John Pettijohn, Saledo; Jerry Slaughter, Midland; Annette Aylor Boaz, Breckenridge; Betty Gage Cluck, Temple; Clara McKown Young, Belton; Sue Joe Horne, Belton; Lily McNair Tucker, San Angelo; Barbara Shaw Ramsey, Mesquite; Shelba McCurdy Head, Gold-thwaite; Ernestine Smith Crain, Bay City and from San Saba were Mable Blair Ledbetter; Emmitt Lee Grumbles, Lloyd Smith, Paula Bryant Barrier, JoAnne Clark Hardy, Buddie Oliver, Sheila Mullins Smithhart, Shirley Hardy Perry, Fred Hardy and Quietta Griffay Maultsby.Guests were Judy Campbell, Sonny Young, Chris Horne, Jeannie Loggains, Raymond Barrier, Bill Hardy, Bettie Oliver, Mary Nell Reynolds, Thomas Smithhart, Linda Hardy, Cora Nell Crain, Wylene Huff, Julia Wilson and Ernest Laird. We missed those class members who for one reason or another could not attend.
