Thursday, October 6, 2011 • Posted October 6, 2011

The 11th Annual Cindy Hayes Memorial Food Drive will be held in San Saba on the Court- house Square, Friday, October 14th. Central Texas Telephone Cooperative and Central Texas Communications, sponsors of the Food Drive, would like to invite everyone in San Saba County to participate in this great event.

Alvino Valdez, a representative from the San Saba Ministerial Alliance said, "this year, San Saba County has approximately 350 families and individuals that depend on getting their food from the Food Bank every month." Valdez went on to say, "all the non-perishable food items collected at the Food Drive are given to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas that comes to San Saba twice a month. The Food Bank takes the donated food, sorts it and distributes it back to the residents of San Saba County. The cash donations go to the Ministerial Alliance and the money is used specifically to contribute monthly to the Food Bank to help them purchase food for San Saba County." "Also, around Christmas," he continued, "the families in need are given vouchers so that they will be able to enjoy a Christmas dinner."

Please mark Friday, October 14th on your calendars today. There will be free sausage wraps and drinks from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Everyone that donates food or gives cash donations to the Food Drive will be eligible to register for one of the many door prizes the businesses in San Saba County so graciously donate every year. Wayne Gatliff and KNUZ radio will broadcast live from 10 a.m. -1 p.m.

When you buy food for your family the next couple of weeks, buy a little extra for the Food Drive. Let’s make the 11th Annual Cindy Hayes Memorial Food Drive the biggest and the best ever for San Saba County.
