Little Dillo Football Report
Thursday, September 29, 2011 • Posted September 29, 2011

On Saturday, September 17th, the San Saba 3rd and 4th grade team traveled to Lampasas to play the Burnet Bulldogs. The Little Dillos played well against a very big Bulldog team, but came up short, losing 12-8. The lone touchdown came from Sean O'Keefe on a 40 yard run midway through the 2nd quarter. Leading the way on the touchdown was our pulling guards and tackles, Westin Lackey, J.T. Moreno, Jett Hibler, Logan Glover, Luis Ramirez and Landin short. Lead blocking for him was Cutter Daniels and Jake Faught.

Risien Shahan was the signal caller with the snaps coming from Jackson Nelson. Our tight ends, John Samuel Mays and Jose Gamboa did a great job closing the ends. The extra two point kick made by Able Martinez split the uprights with a booming kick that could have gone from another 10 yards back.

Defensively, we played well and gave up one touchdown in the 1st half and another with a minute left in the game. Our defensive players included, down linemen Daniel Herrera, James Carlisle, Christian VanBibber, Mauricio Rodriguez, Bladen Calley and Johnny Meador.

Linebacker James Whitney and cornerback Ryan Mathis were also in on many big plays. Also playing on the defense for us was Jeremiah Jimenez and Sean Britton.

Though the Dillos came up short, they played hard all the way to the end. Most of all, they enjoyed every minute of it.

On Saturday, October 1st, we will travel back to Lampasas to play the Johnson City Eagles at 1 o'clock.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors, Harry's, The Chamber of Commerce, Larry and Christa Triplett and Double G for all the ice every week.
