Thursday, September 29, 2011 • Posted September 29, 2011

The GED test will be given at Gatesville High School, October 11 and 12 in room 22.

Test candidate must register to take the test, Wednesday, October 5 in room 22 from 5 - 7 p.m. and will need to bring Texas Drivers License or State or Federal Photo ID, Social Security card and $75. The candidate will also need to bring the ID on testing days. Registration will take about 30 minutes to an hour. If the candidate is under 18, he/she will need to bring a guardian to registration and also have withdrawal papers from the last school attended.

If the candidate has failed the test between 2002 and 2011 and needs to retake one or more parts, each part costs $15 and it must have been six months since the test was last taken or have a letter from the instructor saying that the candidate is ready to take the test. A copy of previous test scores is also required. There are also other qualifications if the candidate is under the age of 18.

The test will be given at 5:15 p.m. on both October 11 and 12. The candidate must attend both nights to complete the test. Testing usually takes about 4 hours per night.

New testers must register at www.utk16.org/scoring (phone help-line, 512-475-9400, if needed). This is the first step toward testing. On the home page the candidate will find a large link entitled "GED TESTERS: click here for the GED Demographic Form" in bold red text. Once testers click this link, they will find the clear, step by step instructions. If the tester is planning to take the test at Gatesville, he/she must be sure to use 0750 for the center number. The rest of the registration and paying to take the test must be done at Gatesville High School.

Please share this information with anyone who might be interested in taking the test. For further information, please contact Barbara Huntley at 512-865-8281 or 512-865-2460.
