Delta Red opens firearms training facility
Thursday, September 29, 2011 • Posted September 29, 2011

Delta Red, a firearms training school owned and operated by Bob and Lana Rich, has recently begun offering classes at their facility a few miles east of San Saba. Their purpose is to provide first class defensive training for law abiding individuals as well as professionals who use firearms as a part of their duties. Classes range from a Basic Handgun Course designed for beginning handgun owners, to Advanced Firearms Combat Training courses in pistol, rifle, and shotgun (in two levels) designed for the law enforcement personnel as well as private citizens who wish to learn more about the proper and safe use of a firearm in the event of a serious defensive situation. Courses are also available to obtain a Texas Concealed Carry License as well as custom tailored courses for specific groups.

Most courses are designed to be completed in one day with both classroom and firing range facilities available at the same location. The facilities are both comfortable and up to date with many of the "bells and whistles" shooting enthusiasts are familiar with seeing on televised gun shows. All of the instructors on the Delta Red Team have extensive experience with firearms training, many having served as trainers to various law enforcement agencies.

Recently, Delta Red offered a special "Media Day" combat pistol training for local and area media representatives. The training began in the classroom with introductions, basic safety instructions, and proper handgun handling techniques. Also discussed was the proper "mindset" in the event a situation would arise requiring the use of a firearm to protect oneself or others as well

as the potential consequences of taking such actions. It should be noted that Delta Red is not about training "Rambo" types, but individuals who are serious about personal safety. At the range, instruction was given and adequate shooting time was provided in many areas and techniques of pistol combat shooting. Range training included: proper safety considerations, proper grip and presentation, and sight and trigger control. Class members were instructed in shooting on the move, one handed shooting, off hand shooting, combat reloading methods and the use of cover and concealment. Each student was given one-on-one instruction that was appropriate for their individual skill level. The class moves along quickly and while serious in nature, the instructors provided enough humor to keep it fun and interesting throughout the day.

Delta Red currently has various classes scheduled over the next several months. Interested persons may obtain more information from their website at: www.deltared.com or by calling 512-264-1951.
