8th Dillos bite Hamilton 44-0

San Saba's 8th grade Dillos pitched a shut out while running over the Hamilton 8th grade Bulldogs by a score of 44-0. The young Dillos played well on both offense and defense. The offensive line play improved 100% over last weeks performance and the defense was awesome. The Dillo ground attack was solid, while the passing was efficient. Emiliano Rocha had 129 yards rushing, 2 TDs and 2 PAT. John Faught had 55 yards rushing, 2 TDs, 2 PAT and John Welch had 57 yards and 1 TD.

San Saba's Emiliano Rocha kicked to Hamilton to begin the contest. David Valencia had a "big hit" on the kickoff. Hamilton had 2 procedure penalties. Logan Guidroz had a big defensive play. John Welch intercepted a Bulldog pass and returned it for a touchdown from 20 yards out. Emiliano Rocha ran in the PAT. (8-0 Dillos).

San Saba kicked to Hamilton. Good defense by David Valencia and Ramiro Coronado, Roberto Coronado, John Watson, Emiliano Rocha, Roy Argote and Joey Salinas forced a Bulldog punt. John Watson returned the punt 10 yards. San Saba's offense took over near mid-field. Emiliano Rocha gained 10 yards, John Faught gained 5. Rocha then ran for 3, 13 and 17. Faught gained 1. Rocha gained 5,7, and 3 yards to close out the first quarter.

The Dillos began the second quarter at the Hamilton 3 yard line. Emiliano Rocha ran it in form the 3. John Faught ran for the extra points which was good. (16-0, Dillos).

Good blocking by John Welch, Robert Hensley, Ramiro and Roberto Coronado, David Valencia, Logan Guidroz, Joey Salinas, Roy Argote and John Watson assisted the ground attack. San Saba kicked to Hamilton. David Valencia had a good tackle on the kickoff. Hamilton swept the Dillo defense for a first down. Emiliano Rocha and David Valencia tackled the Bulldog ball carrier for a loss on 2 plays. Hamilton was forced to punt. The Dillos got the ball and John Welch ran for 2 yards, Rocha added 5 then a pass from Holt Oliver to John Faught netted 20 yards and a touchdown. Rocha added the PAT.

Rocha kicked to Hamilton after the score. John Watson tackled the Bulldog receiver. David Valencia had 2 big defensive plays, the second one caused a fumble recovered by Roy Argote. San Saba took control with good field position. Rocha ran for 15 yards and then added 5 more. John Faught scampered 15 yards for a touchdown, the PAT failed. (30-0, Dillos).

On the ensuing kick off, Roy Argote had a big hit. Ramiro Coronado tackled the Hamilton ball carrier to end the first half.

Hamilton kicked to San Saba to begin the second half. Holt Oliver returned the kick 10 yards. Emiliano Rocha ran for 11 yards. Faught added 2, Rocha added 3, 7, and 7 more. Oliver ran for 5 and then Rocha gained 9, 10 and 5. Faught then gained 4 and Rocha broke tackles and ran over defenders on a 20 yard touchdown scamper. A pass from Oliver to Faught was good for the PAT. (38-0, Dillos).

San Saba kicked to Hamilton. Robert Hensley made the tackle on the kick off. Rocha and Valencia added good defense as the third quarter ended.

The fourth quarter began with Hamilton punting. John Faught gained 40 yards but a penalty rubbed out the run. Faught then gained 12 yards. John Welch took a hand off from Holt Oliver, broke a tackle and ran 55 yards for a touchdown. Blocking by Ricardo Garcia, John Watson, Joey Salinas, David Valencia, Logan Guidroz, Roberto Coronado, Ramiro Coronado and Jose Robles opened the hole. The PAT pass failed. (44-0, Dillos).

San Saba kicked to Hamilton. Robles had the tackle on the kick. Welch and Valencia tackled the Hamilton runner. Valencia recovered a fumble. Faught ran for 13 and 7 yards. John Watson added 11. After a penalty, Watson added 4 more. Oliver knelt the ball at the Bulldog 20 for the victory.

It was a great overall performance. The 8th Dillos play Lago Vista here Thursday night.
