Are we willing to listen to the message? It is much easier to teach a message if the audience is willing to listen. There were some great messages conveyed this past weekend. I heard a message about paying the same wage for a full day’s work and a partial day’s work. I heard a message about being globally sensitive. I heard a message about Tony Romo being the savior for the Cowboys because he saved the game in the midst of two (or is it four now) cracked ribs. Some messages are more meaningful than others. In the world of teaching, teachers want every message to be important. We must be practical in our thinking. Students have different priorities. Students, many times, aren’t truly focused on our message. Even the compliant students are many times just being "compliant." We can’t possibly believe that we completely understand what our students are truly thinking; we only have control over how we convey our message and our purpose. What is our purpose in conveying our message? In the classroom, the message is our lesson. What purpose does the lesson have? This is very important. Different things make teaching messages more meaningful. Students want to know how the message affects them.

Parents, you can help in conveying the message by communicating the importance of education to your children. We are constantly learning new things daily. The willingness to work towards a goal and solve a problem is all we can ask from our students and children. Open house will take place for all three campuses on Monday, September 26
